Did you know?
On average we take 20,000 breaths per day.
Yes 20,000!
You will never get that number of reps done with any other exercise.
But we tend to dismiss it, to assume we know how.
In my experience of cancer rehabilitation, we tend to jump past this step.
Think of your breath as your foundation. Everything else is layered on to this.
A cancer diagnosis, surgery and treatment can all impact how you breath.
When we are stressed we hold our breath, we tense our shoulders, heart rate and breathing rate
increases. We don’t even realise we are doing it. It is a subconscious response.
The problem is when this shallow breath pattern and tense state becomes our new normal.
This breathing pattern can contribute to:
PAIN
TENSION
HEADACHES
FATIGUE
SLEEP DISTURBANCES
